Grand Shrine of Ise(Ise Jingu)
River and Nature around Grand Shrine (Ise City)
1. "Grand Shrine and its surroundings present an atmosphere of holiness and tranquility to purify our hearts as well as the place to worship. The river and forests along the path from the Inner Shrine.Naiku, to the Tsurugi Pass is another wonderful, serene place."
2. "This area's natural habitat and wildlife has been wonderfully preserved and is recommended for any nature-lovers."
3. "We think the Grand Shrine will last forever and hope its surrounding nature will be preserved as long as we can."

Naiku is surrounded with natural forests with gorgeous rivers weaving through them.
Shimaji River merging with Isuzu River. The forests belong to the Grand Shrine and occupy an area of 5500 hectometers.
Since the area is sacred and doesn't allow visitors, the natural beauty has been kept for more than a thousand years.

During spring new shoots and during mid-summer thick green foliage makes these times ideal to visit. Autumn, with its colorful leaves, is also very exciting.
